13 Lunes, Vin de Savoie Apremont,
100% Jacquere from select parcels (averaging 50 year old vines) in limestone scree soils. 550m elevation.
Organic and Certified Biodynamic.
Wines of Apremont are produced exclusively from the local grape called Jacquere, a mouth watering varietal with high-acidity. Shows aromas of green apples, pears, and freshly cut grass. The palate displays clean minerality, citrus notes, salty, pink grapefruit and peachy-chew. This area of Savoie high in the Alps also produces one of my favorite goat cheeses, "Tomme de Savoie". It's a little bloomy round. (Bloomy refers to the Penicillium Candidum , the mold that encases this gem). It's paste is mushroomy and tastes like lemon, fresh dirt, and a tang that only this Apremont could wash down.
13 Lunes is meant to be enjoyed young, this is a crisp, refreshing wine with authentic alpine character. Sylvain harvests by hand and ferments in fiberglass on the lees with indigenous yeasts. The wine is bottled the following spring after a light fining and filtering with a total SO2 that is under 30mg/L.
Great wine for cheese.
Enjoy!
