Caz translates to “crazy in a good way.” This is Michele d’Aprix’s “vacation wine” project. The stuff you drink over long dinners on summer nights. Michele, a UC Davis graduate, studied winemaking in Bordeaux. The blend is Syrah-dominant, with Grenache Blanc and Roussanne hailing from the tippy-toes of the Southwestern Rhône Valley, where the altitude and exposition are truly Mediterranean. The juice is fermented in steel with natural yeast, unoaked. Floral, dark-fruited, violets, and some zip.
