WINE CLUB SELECTION - FEB 2023
not your typical Cotes du Rhone! call it declassified Chateauneuf du Pape. There is a vast ocean of CdR out there, from $12 sip-while-you-cooks, to village level, to refined & ageworthy Cru cuvees - this is definitely in the last category. Unique in that this is Syrah dominant in the land of Grenache. Old vines: average 60 years.
sourced from Estate vineyards (three parcels; total acreage 12 acres) located in the village of Serignan du Comtat, north of Courthézon. Soils a mix of clay/limestone, sand and large quartz stones. The surrounding area—with cypress and pine trees, fields of lavender and olive trees—helps to maintain a rich biodiversity which feeds the soils and keeps vineyards healthy.
