Sequerciani - Vermentino 2023 Toscana IGT 750ml (12.5% ABV)
After careful selection in the vineyard, the grapes are harvested by hand and pressed; the must obtained is fermented using only indigenous yeasts.
The wine is then aged in concrete tanks until bottling. No yeast or sulfites added, unfiltered, fermented by natural methods. All grapes are products of biodynamic farming, DEMETER certified.
perfectly captures the beauty of an undersung Tuscan gem: the Maremma, a region that is blessed with transcending sunshine and an invigorating sea breeze. Vermentino – a grape of competing geographical origins, be it Spain, Corsica, or right here in Tuscany – loves a sunny climate and this coastal zone has that in spades. A bit more rustic than perhaps its Ligurian counterparts, this has a naturally cloudy but vibrant golden-pear color – one look says it all. Ripe yellow orchard fruit, honey, wild flowers and sage meet in this mid-weight, saline-finishing wine. this fruity and fresh Tuscan white holds its own with bold, seaside fare.
In 1992, Ruedi Gerber, a Swiss filmmaker and producer took over an abandoned farm in Maremma, Tuscany, and Sequerciani was born. Through his natural inclination to farm without harm, he has helped create a beautifully biodiverse, sea-breezed ecosystem, with olive trees, ancient grains, an apiary, and a 14 hectare vineyard, all certified organic and biodynamic. Watched until at their peak, the vermentino grapes are picked for balance, macerated for a few hours and gently pressed to keep all things light and lifted. Golden clouds, yellow apricots swaddled in sage, sea brush, & a salt bath. Enjoy with a freshly caught sea bream.
Naturally cloudy, our Vermentino is straw-yellow in color. It is floral on the nose with notes of Mediterranean herbs The wine occasionally has a touch of fizz, and pairs well with bold foods such as omelets, pasta with fish or cheeses and any full-flavored dish based around seafood.
