Mas Lasta means "the last" in Esperanto. This is a tribute to the last winegrowing footprint before the Larzac plateau in the commune of Saint-Privat, located at the foot of the springs gushing from the Aveyron Causse. her first harvest in 2016, though she is not exactly new to the world of winemaking. After obtaining her diploma in oenology from the University of Montpellier she worked at the prestigious Château Latour then embarked on a series of winemaking experiences around the world, first in Spain then in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Uruguay and Argentina. A proper itinerant winemaker who has now found a permanent home in Languedoc. Her 9ha domain sits at 450m, at the most Northern border of the iconic Terrasses du Larzac
“After my agronomic engineering studies and my oenology diploma in Montpellier, my passion for the vineyards and my love of wine took me around the world (Australia, Spain, Uruguay, Canada, New Zealand, and a few French wine regions). I finally settled in Saint Privat on the high country Terrasses du Larzac in 2015.
I started up with 8 hectares of old, forgotten vines, planted in sandstone soil and my ambition was to bring this high-lying terroir back to life. Being a fighter by nature (I am a fan of France’s women’s rugby team known as “les affamées” meaning “hungry women”), I started on natural viticulture by converting the vineyard to organic farming. The Terroir is tough, but I’m even tougher and I’m always busy doing something! After planting another 4 hectares, I plan to diversify the vineyard by adding fruit trees and starting a partnership with a sheep grower.”
“Là-Haut” means “up there”. The wine comes from vineyards located 450 meters above sea level. The wine is just 3 months in steel tanks, The vines are tended according to the lunar calendar and pruned to the traditional “Cordon de Royat”
