old world inspired Syrah from Santa Cruz based Madson (this is a rare release from them as they purchased Sta Rita Hills fruit)
This single vineyard Kessler-Haak Syrah is the first in our portfolio from the West Sta. Rita Hills. Only 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean and just north of Point Conception, this is an extremely cool site- especially for Syrah. The vineyard is relatively low lying at 367 ft in elevation. Northwest ocean winds naturally chill the vines and help prolong ripening time. Sandy loam soils provide excellent drainage and limit nutrient availability for the vines. Ultimately, these sandy soils help to naturally limit yields and produce fruit with concentrated and intense flavor. Farmed 100% organically by Dan Kessler, we are excited to begin working with this vineyard for years to come.
