One of my favorite portfolios, Grand Cru Selections represents the likes of names like Roulot, D'Angerville, Chave, Morey, Domaine du Pelican. We are tasting these three below but we also have in stock the classic Jean- Louis Chave, Côtes du Rhône Mon Coeur, 2017 and because of the past year's restaurant closures we were able to get our hands on a case of Pierre Morey Bourgogne Chardonnay 2018.
We're keeping this tasting all under $30. Get excited !
Domaine Arnaud Lambert, Crémant de Loire Rosé, $29
The château is not only a UNESCO World Heritage site, but also a historically important reference in French fine wine: royals used to exchange these wines annually for Château d’Yquem Sauternes.) Father and son Yvyes and Arnaud began to work the Château vines converting all of their vineyards to organic, and were officially certified in 2012. This movement stemmed first and foremost from the desire to express the terroir of each individual Clos in its purest, most vibrant form.
100% Cab Franc from ultra low ph limestone (just like Champagne). Chalk, backbone and vibrant shimmering strawberry, citrus and honey. Bone Dry.
Via Alpina, Pinot Grigio 2020, $20
Lively Pinot Grigio from Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy. Tropical fruit like Pineapple and stony minerality ! Fermented and aged for four months in stainless steel. A steal for some mountain refreshment ! Pair with Fondue and yodeling.
Le Petit Saint Vincent, Saumur Champigny Le Petit St. Vincent 2019, $28
The cab franc of my dreams. Dominique is fourth generation, when he took over in 1990, the 13 hectares were immediately converted to organic in the heart of Saumur Champigny. Transparent expression of the magic that can happen when well tended to vines grow in clay and limestone soils over tuffeau. Racy with abundant red fruit, no sign of green bell pepper - Hallelujah!
